We are named in honor of the artist Paul Dickerson (1961-1997) because our purpose as an Art Research Center is the same as his was as an artist: The study of art from conception to execution.
We formed this corporation in 2002 and received our FINAL not-for-profit status as a public charity (501(c)3) in 2005. In general, the Corporation will receive and administer funds and operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, its amendments, or of comparable provisions of subsequent legislation (referred to generally as the "Code"), and to give or receive funds and/or property from time to time to other organizations to be used directly in carrying out one or more of the Corporation's purposes.
Dickerson's work is stored in our Museum building, built in 2004. It is a fine 30 x 60 pole building but needs more storage racks, interior walls with insulation for the small gallery space and office and library shelves for the 1,000 waiting art books. Heating for the gallery and office space would permit use in the winter. This is the only Art Research Center in Michigan and we very much want it to be successful.
Many of you have already been generous with contributions to our efforts, and we thank you. Lots of labor and love have gone into our work so far, but we're not done yet. Any gift you give will be truly appreciated (arrangements available) and is, of course, tax deductible.
